World Task Chair with Fabric Backrest
The intuitive World chair, with a softer upholstered finish. Designed by Niels Diffrient, this version pairs a fabric-covered backrest and padded seat with weight-sensitive recline. Choose from fourteen Autumn textile colours, three frame finishes and either height-adjustable Duron arms or an armless profile.
Recline without retuning
World uses your body weight to balance recline. Move from upright work to a relaxed position without retuning a tension dial. The backrest also pivots to follow changes in posture.
Choose the arm support you need
Height-adjustable Duron arms attach to the backrest and follow its recline. Set them with your shoulders relaxed. Choose Armless for open sides and easier access close to the desk.
A softer finish for the whole chair
Autumn fabric covers both the seat and back, giving World a warmer appearance for living spaces, home offices and client-facing rooms. The back follows changes in posture as you work. This is the fabric-back version; choose Mesh backrest above if you prefer exposed mesh and greater airflow.
Fourteen Autumn colours
Autumn is made from 100% recycled polyester. Its layered double-beam weave contrasts a darker background with a mélange surface for depth and a soft, natural feel. Explore all fourteen colours using original manufacturer swatches. Your chosen colour covers both seat and back; frame finish and arm style remain separate choices.
Who is it for?
A good fit for people who want responsive ergonomic support with the softer look of an upholstered chair. World works well in home offices within living spaces, shared rooms and focused desk settings. Check the seat height and depth against your body and desk. This task chair uses a standard-height cylinder and has no headrest or footring.
Your first adjustments
Set seat height with your feet supported, then slide the seat to leave space behind your knees. Position the optional arms with relaxed shoulders and lean back gently. The illustrated guide shows the controls and fitting sequence.
